NATIONAL TOUR – FILM CONCERT : “The Phantom of the Opera”
May 1 - June 26
In recent years, we have seen in Switzerland and across the world a growing demand for film screenings with the soundtrack performed live. Even the biggest halls are filled by a public eager to rediscover their favorite films. Unfortunately, other than the classic works of Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton, silent films have not really benefitted from this enthusiasm in our country. It is a shame because most people are unaware of the diversity, exceptional quality, and entertainment value of films from the silent era, even though they still have a profound influence on the seventh art.
Watching silent films accompanied by live musicians is a unique experience in which the film, the musicians, and the audience play an equally important role. The various silent film festivals across the world, usually with live music and some of them attracting tens of thousands of spectators, show that there is a real demand for rediscovering those masterpieces.
